Alyssa Lopez is a Mexican American filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California. Alyssa's passion for storytelling began with writing two children's books alongside her father at seven years old, which was further honed during her six years at the California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley, where she studied in the Creative Writing Conservatory. She is a 2024 graduate of the Ghetto Film School (GFS) Fellowship Program, a rigorous three-year program currently based at Sunset Gower Studios. Her time at GFS has been marked by significant achievements, including her recognition as a student ambassador honoree for the Melissa Rucker Fellows Fund in partnership with Madison Wells, and having her short film, “Recurrence,” selected for exhibition at the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens. Additionally, she was chosen as the 2024 Gaffer for the GFS International Thesis Project filmed in Vancouver, BC. She currently attends classes with Hollywood CPR, training to be put into consideration to become a member of IATSE Local 728.

While she aspires to do more work as a director of photography, Alyssa aims to pave her way through the lighting department, continuing to focus on thematic stories that explore family dynamics and the experiences of women of color. Her commitment to authentic storytelling drives her artistic vision as she navigates the film industry.
